A physical and engaging workshop where you will capture your movements and moving objects to create a short film. You may join one or more of the sessions.
Workshop process:
- The workshop starts with a quick introduction of what stopmotion animation is and how animation works. (Example: bird in a cage “flipper” / 2frame pencil slider)
- We show one or two video samples of relevant stopmotion pieces.
- A workshop facilitator will then have a short lecture around the importance of recycling / saving water / saving energy / living environmentally friendly lives etc. We will also stress the importance of the power of visual communication and the crucial roll it plays in educating others + how it can be used to educate people on various issues, including environmental issues. We will make clear to the children that anyone can play a role in educating others.
- To keep the brain juices flowing, we will let the children take part in numerous quick physical activities throughout the day.
- The facilitator will then introduce the script and the story board of the 1min film in which the children will star / bring to life through video and stop motion animation. The theme of the film will be focused on an environmental issue. This will give the children an opportunity to experience what they have been taught in a “hands on” practical manner.
- At the end of the four/five days we will host a mini film screening where each of the groups and their family members will be invited to watch the final product.
