This is a charming story following the journey of a swallow who gets lost on his annual migration North. On his way he meets a Polar Bear and learns about global warming, pollution and the effect of his carbon footprint. He returns home and decides to make a positive change in his environment by enlisting the help of the children watching the play.
The production aims to create awareness about environmental change and how this affects all species of the animal and plant kingdom. Through audience interaction and the use of puppetry and physical movement, the play challenges any member of the audience, young and old alike, to re-evaluate the size of their carbon footprint. Children are given pro-active measures that they can put into action in their everyday lives.
The sets, costumes, puppets and props are all constructed from recycled household materials thus passing on the message of ‘practice what you preach’. This will not only appeal to and visually stimulate young and impressionable minds, but also open up a world of infinite possibilities and creativity linked to the disposal of everyday household waste.
