Well Worn Theatre Co. presents Craig Morris and Jaques De Silva, two storytelling maestros, as they take you on a high-octane, action-packed, carbon-kicking adventure. From the emerald depths of the Amazon to the frenetic streets of Future Jozi, you’ll meet penguins, frogs and petrol attendants all on a mission to fix the planet and save our species! Suitable for Moms, Dads, Uncles and Tannies too.
About the Play
The Pollution Revolution is the story of a young boy, let’s call him The Kid, who is blissfully unaware of how much energy and water he wastes everyday. He comes home from his day at school and switches on all the lights and taps and stuff and chucks his rubbish anywhere and everywhere without thinking. Joule, who is Energy personified, has had enough and decides to intervene. He pops out of the plug to tell the Kid that he is an Energy Addict and that certain things have got to change round here. The Kid, naturally, could do with some convincing…
Here follows a whirlwind inter-planetary tour on a super sonic space time travel machine (actually a bicycle with a ‘hula hoop stuck on it’s head’ that powers it’s own lights and sound) that can take them anywhere in time and space that they need to go. The Kid returns home a changed boy and vows to amend his wasteful ways. He makes Joule take him to a ‘Better Future’ where we don’t burn so much coal and oil and cut down so many trees. Together they think of ways to Reduce Reuse Recycle and live more sustainably.
About Well Worn Theatre
Well Worn is a young and vibrant Physical Theatre company with a strong eco-socialist ethos. Started in Johannesburg in 2008, Well Worn aims to create new and stimulating theatrical work around the themes of climate change and global warming, sustainable and holistic development, social justice and the ever-growing ‘Eco-Consciousness’ taking over our planet. Well Worn would like to contribute towards creating a local and global society that values Life above the vested interests of Big Business and Bad Governance. We also strive to encourage, through theatre, the positive emotional, spiritual and physical growth of humans and their communities and our Earth. Well Worn wants to be part of the Solution.
