Benji, a child sized puppet takes off on his fabulous flying carpet to the far off world of the imagination where he meets friends who help him deal with tricky situations.

This enchanting and intriguing small-scale (one person) performance features Benji, a loveable childlike puppet, and is suitable for pre-school, early years & family audiences with children aged 3-7 years.

Young children can easily identify with Benji and the situations he finds himself in. They enjoy his mischievous sense of humor and empathise when he is feeling worried. Benji is of mixed race and the shows have been devised with culturally and ability mixed groups in mind.

SOME COMMENTS ON THE STORYBOX & PREVIOUS MOVING HANDS SHOWS:

“They watched avidly throughout the performance without a murmur or break in concentration for the whole performance. In that time a whole range of issues concerning feelings and their expressions has been presented. The Child puppet is great way of putting as much language as possible into the children in as short a space of time. I have not ever seen young children sit for so long and absorb so much and be so stimulated before.”
- Ros Bayley on Moving Hands work with a child puppet engaging with a group of young hearing and deaf children

“At a time when experimental theatre companies are looking at cutting edge ways of using film and animation in their shows, it takes a children’s Theatre co. to show them how it can be done.”
- Lyn Gardner, The Guardian

“The children were mesmerized by the use of puppets and spontaneously participated as the audience. Even the children with English as a second language were completely inspired by the show and constantly asked questions and participated throughout, which helped to develop speaking and listening skills. The collaborative puppet making/performance workshops were amazing and extremely valuable. Thank you for making this a very positive experience for our children…”
- Assistant Head and teachers at Robin Hood School

“a HUGE thank…. Simply fantastic!!! This is one of the best performances we have seen, staff and children loved it. ..……. we were all fantastically impressed……Benji had all our 3-8 year olds absolutely glued to the show for 45 minutes – simply unheard of! The children really warmed to Benji and found the animation which linked so well to the puppetry irresistible! I wholeheartedly recommend the show to all young children – deaf and hearing! Suffice to say…. Amazing!”
- Longwill School for the deaf

“We loved the simple, clever, child like style of puppetry and animation which inspired teachers and children alike. A celebration of the power of the imagination.”
