Adolf en sy Papier Poppe is a magical story about Opa Adolf, a hard working man who devotes his life to cleaning the streets. With the garbage he collects, he creates beautiful objects, tin flowers, plastic butterflies and paper dolls; Opa Adolf literally transforms junk into beauty and gives life to recycled materials. One of these paper dolls is Goliath, who has magical powers. Goliath’

s purpose is to warn people on earth about the dangers of pollution.

In a different space, far from the beauty of Adolf and his dolls, we discover a nasty looking germ called Kiem Skollie. Kiem Skollie teams up with his gang of garbage creatures to spread pollution, germs and illness. Opa Adolf sees his recycled friends becoming sick and weak and soon understands that it is Kiem Skollie and his filthy ways that is causing this. They need to make a plan –

and fast.

The story of Adolf en sy papier poppe is an environmental awareness production for children on how to keep our environment clean and green. The fantasy story educates children how to provide a helping hand towards a greener world and to be conscious about recycling material.

The production is filled with vocal and physical interaction between the performers and audience and addresses issues of environment and recycling in a fun and magical way. There are many songs that either draw the audience into the character, or are educational and address issues of cleanliness and recycling. The characters involve the audience to sing along.

The production is in Afrikaans and is suitable for children between Grade R and Grade 7.
