Devised Collaboratively by Athena Mazarakis and Renos Spanoudes, ‘Blow’ first performed to capacity houses at the 2010 Wits Drama For Life ‘Sex Actually’ Festival. This innovative piece is an investigation of functionality flipping into dis-functionality within the journeys of daily life: within the places where we love, live, hope and hurt.
‘Blow’ explores this murky line in the space between loneliness and a desire to meaningfully connect. Blow kisses, bubbles, candles; blow me down, over, away, up, under and out.
A man named Adam has made a reservation at a restaurant. He arrives slightly early and is shown to his table ‘for two’. The lady will be joining him shortly. He then proceeds to blow up the doll; she is folded up in a beautiful packet with the words ‘Happy Birthday’ on it. Come to “Blow” to see what unfolds.
