Watching THE GREEN REVOLUTION means you will never be the same again! Whether its apathy, fear or just plain ignorance that prevents you from doing all the right things to save your planet, the Green Guardians intend to shake you awake and give you quick and easy tips on how you can do your share!

Devised by Gisele Turner and Chantal Snyman and workshopped in collaboration with the cast, THE GREEN REVOLUTION is rich in diversity: each vignette is fashioned in a different theatrical style, each style is explored for fresh expression, each expression is pushed to the level of artistic satisfaction.

Featuring the talented and experienced actress Chantal Snyman, THE GREEN REVOLUTION also showcases the talents of DUT graduates Thobani Mbhele and Mandla Biyela. These versatile performers act, dance, sing, rap and operate a variety of zany props and puppets.

Researching the current successful programmes set in motion by WESSA and WILDLANDS, the Arley’s Workshop Team visited land fill sites, met tree-preneurs, spoke to kids at schools with eco-villages and toured an award winning school where recycling, reducing and reusing are part of a way of life. Inspired by stories of communities transformed by waste management, veggie gardens and indigenous tree planting projects, the team transformed these experiences into theatrical pieces that encourage and affirm a positive attitude towards a green future.

Infectious, outrageous, full of the unexpected, THE GREEN REVOLUTION is not ashamed to admit that it aims to surprise and keep audiences guessing! With gum boot rhythms as a base for a call & response poem, a moving tale of the First People’s Walk Out of Africa, victorious eco-villains celebrating their conquest of the world, three escapees from the Funny Farm and a wild adventure at sea tracking the Blue Whale, THE GREEN REVOLUTION tackles some of the most serious ecological issues in brand new ways.
